FC Lakeside have announced the recent death of Mr. Graham Griffiths, following a recent battle with leukemia. Graham was a true family man and our thoughts and prayers go out to Margaret, Rob, Nicky and the entire Griffiths family at this time.
His passion, dedication and support for youth football and the local community has been the driving force behind our proud family football club FC Lakeside for many years of which we are all truly grateful.
Graham started with FC Lakeside in 1981 and managed a team with his son Rob from Under 9’s to Under 16’s. In that time, they won both Cheltenham Junior and Minor league titles and league cups.
Aside from his managerial duties he has held multiple roles within the club including Club Chairman and Dutch Tour committee member. He was also a club Annual Tournament volunteer who, together with his wife Margaret, raised thousands of pounds for Leukemia Research.
Graham could be seen on the touchline on many weekends supporting the club that he has been instrumental in developing. This includes his own granddaughters who now represent FC Lakeside Girls in the Under 14’s and 16’s age groups. To see the opening of our new Cold Pool Lane home filled Graham with joy that the future of the club will continue for many years to come.
Graham was simply the lifeblood of FC Lakeside and he will be missed dearly.
